Finally read this book, or should I say re-read this book. As a teen, I've always thought this a horror story probably because the copy I had has a slightly eerie cover. Now that I've read it again, I find the story to be humourous and sad at the same time.

I was laughing at poor dead Sir Simon, he simply cannot understand how the Otises are not afraid of him, even attempting to communicate with him, show him kindness or play pranks on him.

In the end, he was able to rest in peace after Virginia Otis, with her love, led him into the Garden of Death.

Thanks again for the book, sillesoeren. It brought back fond memories. I will pass this on to another bookcrosser.
