Loved this book. It's as good as "Interpreter of Maladies." Lahiri is one of my favorite new authors, I can't wait for her next book.

Came home through piles of snow today to see this waiting.

Journal Entry 9 by twinkpuddin from Seattle, Washington USA on Wednesday, February 15, 2006
Finished today. I liked the look at feelings of displacement and the different names we go by and their associations.

Can't help but think: "What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other word would smell as sweet." From Romeo and Juliet.

I'm interested in reading Interpreter of Maladies now.

Have moraelyn's address and hope to send this one on its way tomorrow. Many thanks to Karenlea for sharing!!

I found it slow in the beginning, but about halfway through I didn't want to put it down. Excellent book. I didn't think I would be able to identify with the characters and themes in the book, but I found myself increasingly thinking about my own name, and namesake and how my life has been directed by both. Very intriguing, wonderful novel. I hope she keeps writing, I look forward to reading whatever is next.

Will send this on to loom91 in India soon.

I received this book a few days ago, but an exceptionally demanding real life kept me from journalling it and will be keeping me from finishing it fast. I offer my apologies beforehand. I thumbed a few random pages and really liked Jhumpa's direct, penetrating, non-ornamental writing style that seems to have shed a few pounds more after The Interpreter of Maladies. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks to Karenlea, Morelyn and all others who kept the book moving *hugs* :)

Sorry, I just couldn't get into it. But a friend of mine finished the book in a day, so it did not travel all this way in vain. PMing Airyaa for her address.

UPDATE:Airyaa has not responded, PMing Muffin77.

I'm very sorry, I thought I had registered this (and a few others I had) a while ago. The good news is that I have it safely at home, have read it and enjoyed it quite a lot. It looks like I'm the last on the list, so at least I'm not holding it up. Unless I hear otherwise, I'll get this moving again with another bookray or somehow.

Thanks very much for sharing it and sorry again!
