This is a very powerful, thought-provoking book which is at times almost too raw to read.
Set in a 'sink' estate close to Southhampton, Acid Row shows only too graphically what happens when understanding breaks down and vigilante law takes over.
When some sectors of the community are demonised to the extent of becoming bogeymen - in this case, registered sex offenders - they cease to be seen by society as people. Acid Row illustrates the tragic consequences of that kind of mentality.
The pace of the book is relentless as it builds to its inevitably tragic conclusion.

Very powerful and as previously said, the pace is relentless. I don't read much in this genre, so they have to be real page -turners to grab me, and this one was.
Offered now on the relay site.

Arrived today along with another title as a surprise, thankyou so much.
Once this has been read will set it travelling again.
My husband has now read this title and like the previous reviewers found it kept him interested. Like redhouse, I do not read much of this genre unless it is a real page turner. The reviews and my husbands comments lead me to think that I should read this one. So it will go back on Mt TBR for now, hope to get to it in the not too distant future. How does that saying go 'so many books, so little time!'
I did not enjoy this book at all! Although it was a page turner in the way that I felt I had to finish it, which I did very quickly. The subject matter was disturbing but it was not the problem. I do not read much of this genre and was disappointed that this novel by Minette Walters was in my opinion nothing like as good as the two others I have read 'The Breaker' and 'Fox Evil'
