I really enjoy Ben Elton's books - and have since first reading Stark while still in school. Most of the early books were pretty much just an ecological message with a plot thrown in. The more recent books (Inconcievable, Popcorn, Blast from the Past, Dead Famous etc) have been fantastic works of both humour and fiction, with compassion and very real characters. So I was really disappointed with this book. The plot is good, but for some reason it never gripped me. Still worth a read, and still better than many other authors - but somehow not in his usual league.
