What a good book! My first Reynolds Price, but not my last. Kate Vaiden tells her own story, not looking for sympathy, but actually pretty hard on herself. As the story unfolds, you begin to understand what led her to make some of her questionable decisions. Beautifully written; I look forward to reading more by this author.
Given to a fellow BCer at our meeting this afternoon. I thought she might like it.
the sight of this book made me break my resolution not to pick up anything at our gathering today.
from Kiptrix at our meeting.
from book blurb:
One of the most feisty, spelbinding and engaging heroines captures the essence of her own life in this acontemporary Amerian odyssy born of red-clay land and small-town people. We meet Kate at a crucial moment in middle age when she begins to yearn to see the son she abandoned when she was seventeen.

Brought this up to the mountains to read while here. Kade Vaiden tells her story inan eloquent fashion. It's not always an easy or pretty one, but the tale is well told.
I think this book went off with kf-in-Georgia when she and her dogs came to visit us today.
