I found this rather battered ex-library 1965 hardcover at yesterday's book sale at the Nashua Public Library. I recognized the title at once from my first encounter with it during my summer job at my home-town library in the late '60s; I was reading every horror story I could find at the time, and this collection was a dandy. It includes stories that I still enjoy, such as the black-humored "Man Who Sold Rope to the Gnoles" by Idris Seabright, and "The Desrick on Yandro," one of Manly Wade Wellman's "John the Balladeer" stories. Other contributors include Guy Endore, Joseph Payne Brennan, Stephen Vincent Benet, Theodore Sturgeon, and Ray Bradbury.

My sister found this and another book where it was left at the old south burial ground. I believe she found two. When we were visiting MOM in Nashua she gave me this one to read on the plane home and release. This was back in Oct, O6. Well they don't really make books like this anymore do they. The thickness of the paper, the graphics. Anyway, I'll be leaving it for a fellow reader and I hope to hear more on it's journey.
