Picked up at meet. To go on my TBR pile.

I'm not quite sure what attracted me to this book, but I suspect it was just the general weirdness of it (strange cover, odd sounding plot etc.). It proved to be a bit whacky but not totally odd! I could not help but get involved with the main character and the way he progress through the novel. He's a likeable character who never seems quite in control of his life. I particularly enjoyed the part of the novel which deals with his insomnia. There are several threads of plot and meaning in the novel, and I guess that ultimately the book is about identity and the many layers that make up individual characters. I found one or two incidents laugh-out-loud funny and there are some amusing observations related to class and personal appearance. I would certainly say it is worth the time if you are looking for something a bit different. This is a new author to me and I am interested to know what his other books are like.
