A Complicated Kindness

"We're Mennonites. As far as I know we are the most embarassing sub-sect of people to belong to if you are a teenager," says Nomi Nickel, after her mother and sister both run off from the tiny prairie town she lives in. The anguish of being a teen and having a ban on absolutely everything that that teens love to do, including make-up, casual sex and rock and roll, can make a young girl think she is going crazy. Her reflections on life will make you recall your own teenage diary with laughter and with tears. You can find me at Penelope's Caffe on Pandora near Douglas Street.

I found this book in a big box of stuff when we moved into our new house and was pleasantly surprised by it. The writer did a great job of keeping my intrest when not alot really happens. I laughed, I cried, I totally enjoyed.
