Alfie Budd found the perfect woman with whom to spend the rest of his life - and then lost her. He doesn't believe you get a second chance at love.

Returning to the England he left behind during the brief, idyllic time of his marriage, Alfie finds the rest of his world collapsing around him. He takes comfort in string of pointless, transient affaires, and he tries to learn Tai-Chi from an old chinese man, George Chang.

Will Alfie ever find a family life as strong as the Changs? And can he give up meaningless sex for a meningful relationship?

A great read. Combines laughter with tears.

I really do like the way Tony Parsons writes. Yet again he drew me into this book right from page one and I read the entire book within a day.
You can't help but feel some compassion for Alfie but at the same time you also realise how frustrating his behaviour is to those around him. Parson's has a way of writing that makes all his characters believable.
Thanks tiggerboing for sharing this book with me and yes I think I enjoyed it just as much as you did :D
