The title just appealed to me. Found this on bookcloseouts.com.
"An endearing story that depicts small-town eccentricities with affection and adds dazzle with some late-breaking surprises."
Sounds like a fun, light read.

This starts out as a quiet, homey little story about life in rural Kansas in the 1930s, during the dust-bowl depression years. The story centers around Ginny and her friends, the ladies of the Persian Pickle Club, a close-knit group of farm wives who get together once a week to quilt and chat. The unquestioned predictability of their lives is disrupted when Rita, a big-city (Denver) girl, marries into the community and refuses to “blend” and settle in. Rita soon begins to pick at the fabric of the community quilt until the stitches begin to loosen, but only then can does the tight weave of the bond of small-town friendship truly reveal itself.
An interesting, surprising little book.

The Persian Pickle Club is off on its way to participate in "GeeMont's" book club discussion in WA.
After the discussion, would appreciate your taking a minute to enter a few comments. Curious to know what others thought of this book. Enjoy.

My wife and I both enjoyed this book for our book group. It was an effective glimpse into a earlier era with a good story and characters.

Received this today. Thanks to everyone for sharing. I read the author's The Florabama Ladies' Auxiliary and Sewing Circle last year and wanted to try something else by this author. I'll be sure to pass it on when I finish.

What a lovely little story! Set in Depression-era Kansas during the Dust Bowl days, it's a surprising story about a group of friends who meet weekly to sew their own quilts; together they're the Persian Pickle Club. At the beginning of the tale, some outsiders move to town - the Massies and Rita and Tom Ritter. This is a story about outsiders and friends and friendships, and how everyone in the group sticks together whether they're a newcomer or an old-timer.

I really enjoyed this story. Thanks to everyone before for sharing. I was planning on releasing this for the Bountiful Harvest release challenge, but since this book's had so many BC readers I'll have to finish making up my mind where to release it. Stay tuned!
