This is a powerful book. Primo Levi's first person account of surviving Auschwitz is a must read. The author captures the minutiae of life in Auschwitz, the shoes, the bowls and spoons, the routine clothing exchanges, as well as the overarching themes of lager life such as the economics system that evolved among prisoners. This book has the same tone as "Gulag Archipelago" by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, and is an equally worthy read.
