Horror of Horrors! A mass murder of books! And the perpetrator goes unpunished! Arrrrrrgh! Where is Iga Ninja when you want him! It was a sad, sad day when news of this outrage reached the Book Cemetery. A Memorial Service was held in the Chapel of Sighs before a hushed and shocked congregation. The Choir gave a broken-hearted rendition of "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White"; there was not a dry eye among the many mourners. The Memory of the four dear departed Reading Companions was released to the ether down by the Pool of Rememberance. It is on occasions such as this that the spirit and very soul of every bookcrosser is sorely tested.
The Chief Mourner was BigEyes (who was in a state of near collapse) and had to be supported to the Limousine, with several stops for libations for medical purposes along the way. The Management and Staff of the Book Cemetery extend sincere condolences at this sad time. In one of those extraordinary coincidences that occur at the Book Cemetery with regular monotony BigEyes was the winner of this month's Lucky Door Prize, a meal for nine at the "Connecticut Sushi Palace and Short Stay Motel".
