Book, star rating and review contributed by my mum:
The Children's Hour is set in an old house at the Devonshire seaside. The story opens with the "Children's Hour" as their mother reads them a story. Once the scene is set we are taken into the future where the children are seniors. By switching backwards and forwards the story tells how the family have managed their lives through war and over two generations. The eldest child has secrets which empower her (she thinks), but her siblings have secrets too. It all makes for an interesting, page-turning study into family dynamics.
Marcia Willett has a very readable, compassionate touch to make you curious as to what the outcome will be...
