I got this book to review from a magazine i work for; the photographer keeps the cover for magazine pics, hence it has no front cover. Here is the review I wrote:

When I first opened this book I cringed a little; it’s all printed in purple text and with purple drawings, which may make it difficult to read for those with slight visual impairments. But as soon as I started reading, I liked the book much better. There are easy to understand chapters on all the essentials, from magical tools over the Wheel of the Year to the God and Goddess. Concepts and magical principles are explained well, and while not very detailed cover all the basics and more. There are some fun little spells such as the mobile phone pick-me-up: Text “B A God S!” and safe it in your phone. Then when you need a little extra energy look at it, or when you know a friend is feeling down, send it to her!

Going by the title of the book, it is for total beginners; I would say the book is more far reaching than that. While the book is written in a style that is accessible to even total beginners knowing nothing about witchcraft, there are ideas in there that would suit even intermediate practitioners, as the author concentrates on the female principle, with in-depth chapters about Women’s Wisdom, Becoming a Goddess and the Silver Wheel of the Moon and how the spirituality of the menstrual cycle can be harnessed in magic. This last one might put some readers off, but it is not about doing spells with blood or anything like that; it’s more about being aware of your body, and about natural ways to ease PMS and such things. I also like that while there are a few spells, this isn’t just a boring collection of spells, it is a book about how to bring the spirituality of witchcraft into all aspects of your life.

In a nutshell: A beginners book about witchcraft with a difference, great read but definitely for women only!

I''ve finally picked this up and flicked through it, but I''m finding it kind of childish. I''ve skimmed a lot of it tonight and I think that will do me. I''ll be passing it on soon.
