The Polysyllabic Spree

Hornby's book tastes are nothing like mine. I read his entire book of reviews and did not add a single book to my wish list. But go figure. I loved reading this book. Hornby writes like a
bud, interweaving his book thoughts with worries about his personal life, and the result is that the book reads honest. No fakey-fake "I love this book because I'm supposed to" or "I hate this book because all the critics do". I've considered
borrowing his system; I like the juxtaposition of the list of books bought for the month with the list of books read for the month. I'd also like to emulate
his bold lack of remorse for the large numbers of books purchased but not read. If I take nothing else away from this book, though, I want to steal and keep
the brave spirit in which Hornby approaches, reads, and evaluates books.
