a pretty fantastic read!! enthralling/engaging story READ IT!!
Arrived today. Yea. Thanks Cariodeb. Must of sensed this arriving today, because I found yet another book re Africa (Modern Poetry From Africa - not that modern, it was printed in 1966 - but its still in OK condition), which I'll send to you once I get through Wole Soyinka. Then I'll read this interesting looking book afterwards.
"READ IT" I shall.

Fabulous book. I did enjoy reading this. Plus seeing the worldview from a boy with Asperger's Austism was fascinating. So emotionally detached from human feelings and a complete lack of understanding and empathy for people - makes a rather frightening world.
And I leant so much too. For instance I didn't know that my birthday (the 29th) was a prime number. And I didn't know about the "Monty Hall Problem" - which was explained rather well.
Funny enough, I've just joined a Book reading club here in Canberra, and guess what book (besides others) we will be reading and discussing about this year - this one. So I'm already ahead - and I'm looking forward to hearing how other people will react to this book.
Thanks CarioDeb. Another excellent book.

Thank you so much Unbalanced - what a sweetheart!!!
I love surprises! I am really looking forward to this book as I have worked with kids with Aspergers before and they are incredibly fascinating and beautiful souls.

Like Unbalanced I learnt alot from this book :) The flickering our eyes make when we read (saccades) fascinated me as did the mathematical problems and ideas on space/time. The part where he talks about why he needs timetables as "they make sure you dont get lost in time" made logical sense to me but at the same time broke my heart. In fact my general response to the whole book was somewhat similar. I admired Christophers incredibly complex computational mind but at the same time I grieved for the fact that he could make no emotional connections to anyone. To be so brilliant and yet so detached and alienated must be torturous. I also recognised the terrible pain of his mother and father. If I was wanting to scoop up Christopher and hold him tight to make his pain go away then imagine their heartache of a lifetime of wanting this...I guess my response to this book was so strong because I have been a Siobhan to quite a few Christophers in my time and I have experienced first hand the enormous frustrations of Aspergers (and all kinds of Autism). Living with these conditions takes the patience and compassion of saints and a very large sense of humour and healthy dose of unflappability (if that's even a word).
I have secret plans for this book so I will set its status to reserve until I can carry them out.
Thank you cairodeb & Unbalanced for the opportunity to read this great book!

Sending this great book back around to the other side of the world :)
Hmmm, this will probably reach its intended destination by Christmas. I went to the post office to post it off and was absolutely flabbergasted when the woman behind the counter told me that it would cost me $22 for a 700g parcel to the UK. Apparantly Economy Air Mail is no longer available. My only other alternative was Sea Mail and it takes 3 MONTHS!!!
So HAPPY CHRISTMAS FOXED!!!
So HAPPY CHRISTMAS FOXED!!!
