I caught this this morning in the mail. My husband and mother were interested in the movie, as was I, so I plan to see if they'd be interested in reading it as well as me.

I REALLY enjoyed this one. VERY entertaining. I also work in the banking industry, so learning about the exact processes he used to counterfeit items was interesting. A very intelligent man and full of guts! Highly recommended.

This will be on its way soon to Julie in Ohio -- a RABCK off her wishlist.

Thank you so much for the RABCK, jaenelle! I put this on my wish list after I watched the movie. I was absolutely fascinated with Frank Abagnale and how he got away with so much fraud. The movie was fantastic, but left me wanting to read more of the details. I look forward to starting this very soon. Thanks, again!

Terrific book. I was not disappointed.

The book matched the movie almost exactly. I was surprised, because I thought that surely the movie took a lot of liberties in telling Frank's story, but it did not. Reading it was fast-paced and kept me shaking my head. I know it was explained in the movie that Abagnale was only 16-19 years-old when he committed most of these outlandish frauds, but I think that didn't really hit home until I read it.

Of course, it's been years since I saw the movie and mostly remembered all of his check forgeries and posing as an airline pilot. I had completely forgotten that he posed as Chief Resident (I think) at a hospital and then passed himself off as a lawyer and college professor. Absolutely incredible.

I think Frank summed it up nicely when he said that the police and FBI were perplexed by him because they didn't often run into criminals who committed crimes solely for the challenge. I can't help it - the man's a genius.

I do wonder if he would be able to get away with as much, for as long, if he tried some of these schemes now in our electronic/technological/Big Brother-ish age. I kinda think he'd be just as successful, in very different ways. Or would he be a little less risky, now that he's aged? I think the confidence of youth was a large part of his daring and success. I'd be eager to learn what other readers think.
