This is my idea of a beach book, so by my standards, it was pretty light, but enjoyable. I've found that it's easier to rate a book more highly if you compare it to books like it. Anyway, I thought it was great fun, he was annoying in the same way guys like him were annoying at BU, but you kinda got used to their sense of humor and neuroses and, actually, I wish I knew him. He's my kinda person -- knows real stuff, important stuff, but also knows the latest crap. He's probably on top of the Katie Holmes thing, the Moleskine phenom, etc. In return for suffering through his fairly frequent pangs of anxiety, insecurity, guilt, etc., I got to learn some fascinating facts and factoids from A to Z, as well as Jacobs quirky take on the topic.
For those who want more, he wrote a response to a very nasty review by Joe Queenan on the last page of NYTBR. Despite JQ's nasty review, I read it anyway and thought it was a kick!
