The Story of M: A Memoir

In M., Maria Isabel Pita tells the truth about being a beautiful, intelligent and intensely sensual woman who refuses to fall into any politically correct category. She is not a feminist, and yet she is fiercely independent. She is everything but a mindless sex object, yet she is willingly, and happily, a masterful man’s love slave. M is erotically submissive and yet also profoundly secure in her own being, and she wrote this account of her ascent into submission for all the women out there who might be confused and frightened by their own contradictory desires just as she was. M is the true story of the author’s first shockingly kinky and profoundly instructive year with the man of her dreams. Her vividly detailed story makes it clear we should never feel guilty about daring to make our deepest, darkest longings come true, and serves as living proof that they do.
This was supposed to be a true story but I'm not sure.

RELEASE NOTES:
Can't say I was all that impressed with this one. The author was a little too snobbish for my taste. I'm not completely unfamiliar with this sort of lifestyle and this just didn't ring true to me. But, it's not all bad. There were some interesting scenes...
I'll send this on as soon as I get an addy.

i have been looking forward to this one. i have a few other rings that should be before it.

an interesting story. i have some familiarity with this lifestyle and find some of the story to sound more like fiction than reality.
her, at times, overblown language and her snobbishness annoyed me.
there were some interesting scenes.
thankyou for sharing ReetPetite

Well, I wasn't very impressed with this. The subject matter is interesting, as it's about a world that many people (me included) have no knowledge or experience of at all, so that was good. The trouble was that I thought the narrator was such an unpleasant woman - jealous, self-obsessed, spiteful, very unsuppportive of other women - that I found it quite hard to keep reading. I did think she revealed things about her own character that perhaps she didn't mean to and I found that fascinating, but it wasn't easy being in her company. It also seemed to be something of a wasted opportunity to study the contradictions of being an independent modern woman who is also a submissive - the book didn't really do anything with this or even give much evidence that she is indeed 'fiercely independent'. I also found it quite badly written in parts, with some sentences trying so hard to be literary that they were verging on incomprehensible.
Oh dear - I hate giving negative reviews of a book when someone's been nice enough to lend them! Thank you to reetpetite and amberc for sharing.
