It's been a while since I read it, but I remember it as being OK, but not great --- it didn't really grip me, and it was a bit hard to follow at times, though if I remember right, sequel was worse in that regard. I'm afraid I can't bear to part with any of my better books though --- I'll get new ones to set loose of those...
