Three Complete Novels by Debbie Macomber

Cindy And The Prince

Cindy Territo had always believed that someday her prince would come. But then he finally showed up as brooding Thorne Prince, vice president of the firm where Cindy was a charwoman! How could she possible convince this Prince that she was his Cinderalla!

*** This story had a fairy-tale plot -- too good to be true -- but entertaining. I enjoyed watching the characters interact with one another and I enjoyed the sweet romance between the two.

Some Kind Of Wonderful

Gentle. trusting and beautiful Judy Lovin would normally have avoided ruthless entrepreneur John McFarland like the plague. But to save her father's buisness, "Beauty" found herself living om John's private island with him -- and wondering if perhaps the Beast couldn't be tamed after all....

***This was a remake of "Beauty and the Beast" -- I enjoyed it as I read it as I would read any fairy-tale -- this would not happen in real life as it would of been a book on kidnapping and the police would be involved. I found the story to be intriguing and it was a nice break from heavier reads. This is not one of Macomber's better books but I have yet to read one that I didn't enjoy.

Almost Paradise

When Sherry White took a summer camp job as bunk leader to seven intellectually gifted children, she counted on plenty of exercise and fresh air. What she didn't count on was Jeff Roarke, the gorgeous, if dictatorial, camp director - who, despite his cynical attitude, had Sherry hoping for happily-ever-after.

***What a sweet and adorable story. I loved it and I loved the characters. The girls were charming and I enjoyed how Sherry interacted with them. I also enjoyd watching her relationship with Jeff grow and flourish.

thank you, my friend! Hope all is well there!

Cindy and The Prince: I found this modern-day Cinderella story to be so enchanting and magical that I literally smiled the entire time I spent reading through it! Set in Manhattan at Christmastime, it's a highly romantic feel-good fantasy about making one's dreams come true! Cindy could have saved herself, and the Prince, a lot of emotional turmoil and heartache if she would have had the courage to communicate more openly and honestly with him, and I found that back-and-forth part of the story a bit frustrating to read.

Some Kind of Wonderful: This Beauty and the Beast remake was very well done! The Caribbean setting was spectacular, and Judy's gentle interaction with all the people on the island was heartwarming and touching. The metaphor of Judy bringing a summertime feeling into John's world, and how it felt like winter even in this tropical setting without her, was wonderfully illustrated. Highly enjoyable!

Almost Paradise: While the previous two stories in this collection are close and accurate remakes of the fairytales they are based on, this last story only loosely represents Snow White. In fact, just about the only resemblance to the original is the woodsy setting and that Sherry is a counselor for seven young campers. As a parent who is concerned about the intense pressure inflicted on today's young children to achieve academically, as well as cnoncerned about after-school and weekends being scheduled to the brim with various lessons and activities, it was refreshing to read about a teacher/counselor who breaks this mold and encourages kids to use their imagination and inner creativity to entertain themselves. This children learn valuable lessons about life in the process that cannot be learned in textbooks or other acadmeic pursuits. Unlike the first two stories, this one was much less romantic, and that love devloped between the two characters wasn't very convincing.
