This is, of course, a classic, but it takes up so much space in the bookcase and it won't be read here anymore, so I decided to let Paddington travel on. From Peru via Zeist to...?
..to Leiden!
I enjoyed reading about Paddingtons adventures a lot. Easy to read stories about a (sometimes) very naieve and cute bear. It was just what I needed. I'll try to find a suitable home for this lovely book.
Reserved for biba89!
And I caught it! Just before we left for England, the postman delivered this book on our doorstep. It is full of nostalgia, this one. I read all of Paddington's stories as a child.
Now, after the whole lot of them, I grew somewhat tired of this bear's adventures. Does he never learn that things invariably go wrong when he tries to do them on his own? And it was strange to read about a bear when for how he partakes in family and society it may just as well be a child with a fur. Now I don't remember if he actually goes to the zoo, but that is how strange this situation appears to me.
Maybe I am too old to enjoy this again. What I did enjoy was the setting, reading about cream teas and boat trips, while on holidays in England.
