Evelina

_Evelina_ is a fascinating and entertaining by one of the first and best English women novelists. Those who love Jane Austen will find much to love in Burney as well, a writer whose works Austen knew well and admired greatly. This excellent "cultural edition" provides plenty of information about the period and many intriguing documents that help place the work in relation to what else was being published at the time, making this novel an excellent entry into eighteenth-century culture with particular attention to the women of the time. Others may just enjoy the witty, satirical, moving, and perennially relevant story of a young girl coming into her own as she negotiates the pressures put upon her by disfunctional relatives, false friends, dubious lovers, and a new life in the big city.

I left it on one of the tables, but perhaps someone filed it on the shelf by now. If they have, the book is yours to keep and re-release or leave there for others to enjoy!
