I had this book free from a book club and, having been left cold (no pun intended) by the film, have no desperate desire to read the book. Perhaps someone who enjoyed the film, or is interested in American Civil War romance, might like this book better.

Well, I've finally got round to reading this as I have an idea for who might like it and I thought I ought to have read it first. It wasn't to my taste. I didn't really enjoy the film so I wasn't all that surprised that I wasn't fussed on this book. My favourite character is Ruby, as she's so matter-of-fact and just gets on with things. I found Ada rather wet and Inman too moody for my liking.
Hopefully this book will soon find its way to someone who does actually want to read it!

This book is now safely with me. Thank you so much for sending it to me. I actually loved the film - perhaps the fact i think Jude Law is gorgeous may have had something to do with it.
It may be a while until i can get around to it as i have quite a few to get through in front of it aswell as taking on an extra degree course at work.
Once i do though, i will give you my opinion of it before sending it on its travels again.
