This was a good, fairly quick read. I read a previous Lisa Gardner book with the same characters and enjoyed getting to know them again. It was quite a page-turner!

I picked up this book at a "lending library" at a hotel in Hawaii (I left another book in its place) and I plan on releasing it soon so it can travel some more.

From the back of the book:

What do you do when a killer targets the people you love the most? When he knows how to make them vulnerable? When he knows the same about you?

These are the questions that haunt FBI Special Agent Pierce Quincy. The police say his daughter’s death was an accident. Quincy will risk everything to learn the truth—and there’s only one person willing to help. Ex-cop Rainie Connor had once been paired professionally—and personally—with the brilliant FBI profiler. He helped her through the darkest days of her life.

Now it’s time for Rainie to return the favor. But this killer is like none these two hard-boiled pros have ever encountered. This twisted psychopath has an insatiable hunger for revenge...and for fear. As the clock ticks down to one unspeakably intimate act of vengeance, the only way Rainie can unmask this killer is to step directly in his murderous path. She will become a murder waiting to happen. She will be...the next accident.

Got this book tonight at our Bookcrossers' meeting at The Second Cup. What fun to meet other BCers. The bonus was getting books too! I'll add another journal entry after I've read this. Thanks MissQ!

So, it only took me two years and 9 months from the time I got this book to finish reading it. What a shame because it turned out to be a really good book.

I did figure out some of the ending earlier in the book but not all of it. Even figuring (or I should say suspecting) who the bad guy was didn't ruin any part of the book for me. Because even though I suspected, I was far from sure.

Thanks again MissQ. I'll make sure this book starts travelling again.

We're heading over to Maine tomorrow to mail a bunch of books and this is one of them. I'm sending it to another bookcrosser in Rhode Island. Enjoy!
