Y'know, I really didn't expect to enjoy this. It was an airport purchase made out of desperation. I've read "My Sister's Keeper" and enjoyed it, though I must admit to feeling almost ashamed at being roped in by this author's ability to weave a story that sucks me in.

I did like this book, though. The setting of an Amish community makes it all the more interesting- as does the development of the characters.

I think I'll make a ring of this if anyone is interested.

Received in the post this morning. The postman ringing the doorbell made me jump as I was in bed having been up since 3am to see the sun rise at the top of a big hill seeing as it is Midsummer's Day.

I have no other book-ring books to read, so this is my current reading book.

Journal Entry 5 by Pookledo from Loughborough, Leicestershire United Kingdom on Saturday, June 25, 2005
A very interesting book. I couldn't put it down and finished reading it in 4 days with the help of a few powercuts!

I do like fiction where you learn a few facts whilst still enjoyig the story, and this book had quite a few snippets here and there which were essential to the story as well as broadening knowledge and understanding.

Thanks for starting the book-ring vivdripper. I wouldn't have read this book without it being on bookcrosssing.com, and I'm very happy I have read it.

I've PMed Flowergirl68 for her address so I can pass the book along.

I enjoyed reading this one. I love courtroom dramas, and the Amish setting gave it a pleasant twist.

Having already read My Sister's Keeper I was holding my breath at the end, expecting a similar, shocking finish, but I'm not going to give any spoilers, so you'll have to read it to see yourself!

I found Katie's character interesting- sometimes hard to understand, but I suppose that's the point. Ellie, I thought, was a bit of a cliche. You could pretty much predict what would happen next with her, but this didn't mar my enjoyment of the book.

Thanks for sharing, vivdripper, and great bookmark - I wish I could crochet!

I've pm'ed Heaven-Ali for their address.

Arrived today, looking forward to reading this, I've never read Jodi Picoult before and its great to try new things. Straight to the top of my TBR will start it very soon.

A real page turner! This is not my usual type of thing to read, but I found myself hooked from the start. Being set within an Amish community makes it all the more intresting, I love reading about people and places very different to what I know.
There was quite a bit about the plot that was predictable, but that didn't spoil it at all.
I'm glad I've had the opportunity to read this and may look out for Jodi Picoult again.

Sending to Spiderchic 15th July

What a fascinating book. I really enjoyed it, especially found the whole Amish way of life really interesting. This is the second of Jodi Picoult's books that I've read and definitely wish to read more.

Thanks for sharing. Have pm'd Cynthiaa for her address

Well done, Jodi Picoult. This is the 2nd Picoult novel I've read and I do really enjoy her style. She is informative and teaches new information without being overly pedantic. She weaves a wonderful tale with true-to-life characters (although I do agree with a previous poster that Ellie was a wee-bit cliche ... I loved Katie, though, and Aaron was my favorite). The author manages to tell her story while getting you to think about your own prejudices and feelings about the subject at hand -- in this case, murder of a baby.

And I loved the ending. Didn't see that coming at all!

Have PM'd the next reader, and will mail as soon as I get their addy.

WOW -- what a fantastic book -- I was hooked in the beginning and I stayed hooked until the end. I found the style of writing to be not only informative but entertaining. At times it was a bit repeating but not as much as other books that I have read. This is the first Jodi Picoult book that I have read and I hope to read more of her in the future. Thanks for letting me in this ring -- I would of never read this book otherwise.

Journal Entry 21 by arugh48187 from Highland Park, Illinois USA on Friday, October 14, 2005
This book was a phenomenally good read. It is the second book by Jodi Picoult that I have read and so far I am still actively seeking out her books. She is a wonderful storyteller and her character development is very good. I liked Katie better than Ella, and Coop would be welcome at my house any time. The whole Amish slant made the book even more interesting and the tidbits of Amish life were great. I can't say that there is anything that I did not like about the book. Fantastic read!

Thanks for sharing!

Despite what it appears, this book is not the actual book that finished. I started this one, but the book inadvertently got wild released in the seat pocket of flight 4293 coming back from Chicago. It is so difficult to think straight when your son is voicing his displeasure at being confined to an airplane seat. The continuation of this ring is here:
