The Good Earth

I've always meant to read this book. I'm so glad so many people on BC recommended it. It portrays a culture I know very little about (China) and Buck's writing is beautiful. This story is a great illustration of the maxim "Life is what happens to you when you're busy planning other things."

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Thank you for "saving" this book. Consider the book a gift and feel free to read it, not read it, send to a friend, leave it in a public place as I did, or keep it forever. You may remain totally anonymous if you choose. The site is totally free (unless, like me, you want to purchase BookCrossing labels & bookmarks as opposed to printing out your own which many members do), there are no strings and no spam is involved. If you choose to join up, I hope you will consider using me, KimKerry, as the one who referred you. I enjoy the idea of sharing books and seeing how they travel, but I realize this idea is not for everyone.

On Friday, December 2, I found the book on a concrete park bench covered by an inch or more of wet snow near the Willow Creek Medical Center on Willow Creek Rd in Prescott. It was open to Chapter 23 and soaking wet. I took it home and have been trying to air dry it. Today, December 10, the pages are still damp close to the binding. Laying flat on a table the book appears 3 or more inches thick. Formerly wet pages don't close well. It isn't in very good shape, but appears to be readable. I'm going to give it a try and will post again when I'm ready to part with it.
Thanks, anonymous, for trying to save this book. It's great that someone found the book last month and then released it again. It's not so great that the book fell victim to the elements.
I'm the person who found the book covered in wet snow last December. It eventually dried out and is in fair shape. I finished reading it last week and today left it with my cousin and his wife in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Its journey continues.
