The Color of Magic

The Colour of Magic is Terry Pratchett's maiden voyage through the bizarre land of Discworld. His entertaining and witty series has grown to more than 20 books, and this is where it all starts--with the tourist Twoflower and his hapless wizard guide, Rincewind ("All wizards get like that ... it's the quicksilver fumes. Rots their brains. Mushrooms, too."). Pratchett spoofs fantasy clichés--and everything else he can think of--while marshalling a profusion of characters through a madcap adventure.

Really strange little book.

I am so glad that a very very kind person sent this to me. I have always wanted to read a Terry Pratchett book to see what the hype was about. I loved it. I am glad that this one is the first in the Discworld series and this has made me want to read the rest.
Great fun book.

I'm embarrassed at how long this has sat in my bookcase. It has even moved from england to scotland with me. I think it's about time I got it moving again!

I love this book. It is one of my favourite discworld books. I needed a "light" book today and this fits the brief really well, so I already half way through.

This is the first of the Discworld series and one of my favourites. I love Two flower and luggage. Discworld is based on a very dry sense of humour and parody. This book looks at the idea of tourism, with Two Flower travelling from another continent, taking photos of everything that moves (until he lost his camera), wanting to see the "authentic" places and events (like a typical bar brawl where the majority of the people die) and describing hovels with words such as "quaint" and "Pictorique" As I have a fairly warped sense of humour myself, I love it!
As this has been bookcrossed for such a long time, I will take it to the Falkirk convention, if someone doesn't want it first.
