Yay! Found this along with its two friends outside Giant. My boss and his son are currently obsessed with Dean Koontz and as I've never read any of his books (so far as I know) I though this a good opportunity to do so. Thanks so much! I look forward to reading it and releasing it again afterwards :-)
Not a bad book at all, when it comes down to it.
I found the beginning difficult to get through. The very quick jumps among all characters involved set the tone and pace for this thriller, but didn't allow you to really get into the plot for a while. I kept waiting for something big to happen, but the first half was just scaring the reader and jumping around and trying to develop characters. Wasn't exactly what I wanted.
I suppose it worked, though, because I really did want to wait it out until something big happened, and when the characters started to join each other I cared enough about them (as very well-developed characters) to want to know if they could survive the terrible things happening to them. So, formulaic and predictable or not, I definitely enjoyed reading to find out what the Moonhawk Project was all about and what it really meant to the people of Moonlight Cove.
As the book continued, I grew more and more attached to the characters and more action carried the story to a great conclusion. I suppose I'm used to reading Michael Crichton and felt there was a lack of scientific details to eplain the project... but I can forgive that.
What I loved most about this book were the underlying themes throughout which made it much more than a character-driven thriller.
I definitely enjoyed this book in the end, and am glad I caught it and was able to give it a read!

I will be handing this to my father tonight before he leaves for his trip tomorrow to Manila in the Philippines where, I believe, he intends to leave it as a wild release :-)
Was handed this book at our local Chesapeake Bagel Bakery, just across from the Burke Hard Rock Cafe and Gardening Center. Carried it to Manila, The Philippines, on February 17-18 (lost a day enroute, am not sure where it went) and finished reading it here.
