I walked into this book expecting it to be what the title presents. A year... at ... the races lol. But Smiley took things further. She explored life as an all around horse owner, the owner's relationship w/ the horse, and equine psychology. It was entertaining, informative, and kept me so completely interested. I like this one quite a bit
