Sequel to Sailing to Sarantium .

"Beckoned by the Emperor Valerius, Crispin, a renowned mosaicist, has arrived in the abled city of Sarantium. Here he seeks to fulfill his artistic ambitions and his destiny high upon a dome that will become the empreror's magnificent sanctuary and legacy.

But the beauty and solitude of his work cannot protect him from Sarantium's intrigue. Beneath him the city swirls with rumours of war and conspiracy, while otherworldly fires mysteriously flicker and disappera in the streets at night, Valerius is looking west to Crispin's homeland to reunite an Empire - a plan that may have dire consequences for the loved ones Crispin left behind.

In Sarantium, however, loyalty is always complex, for Crispin's fate has become entwined with that of Valerius and his Empress, as well as Queen Gisel, his own monarch exiled in Sarantium herself. And now another voyager - this time from the east - has arrived, a phisician determined to make his mark amid the shifting, treacherous currents of passion and violence that will determine the empire's fate."

Kay strikes back with this awesome two-volume fantasy that is inspired from the Byzantine empire, Constantinople, Empress Theodora, the hippodrome... It made me cried, it left me astonished, I really enjoyed the book. Kay is definitely my favourite "storyteller".

Mailed to Xeyra 3 days ago as a surprise RABCK, as I was sending her "Sailing to Sarantium" as part of a game. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

And it has arrived. Imagine my surprise when I see a package from you much bigger than I would have expected for one little book. I still thought the crazy woman had sent me a hardback copy -- thuogh I also recalled she wanted the hardback copies of this author's books for her PC, so how could she send one to me? When I opened it, I noticed the book I was expecting plus two surprises, one of which was this.

Asterw, I cannot begin to thank you for this absolute surprise! Of course, you're going to be the death of me by adding more books to my scarily big Mountain of TBR Doom, but I love you anyway... :)
