A great classic hard SF book.
On one hand it is a first contact book with enough discription of the aliens to satisy any one.
On the other hand it is a love story between the captain of the ship and a beautiful aristocrat.
On the gripping hand it is a study in how people react to the new and different when it can not be ignored.
This is one of the best books I have ever read
