Had to read this for my Contemporary Brit. Lit. class this past year. It was interesting and crazy all at the same time. It was a bit depressing, but enlightening into what seems like a pretty flat, but realistic look into one man's life. (I'm willing to send this one out, but I wrote in it...don't know how annoying that is to people!)
received in the mail from mjm of Sandy, Utah.
thank you, mjm. It doesn't matter that the book is annotated. It is not an easy book to find.

This book was very well written. It is a vibrant portrait of working-class life in an industrial city in the midlands of England in the 1950s. It was surprisingly enjoyable, but at times I had to force myself to continue reading.
