Dream-like, disturbing, arousing... The ten stories and the novel (Someone Bought the House on the Island) in this collection are fascinating and quite beautiful. Some evoke painful thoughts of a love-or-was-it-lust that can never be recaptured, others are sweet and satisfying - despite (or because of?) dealing with various taboo relationships. [I did prefer the short stories to the novel (which, at over 260 pages, takes up most of the book), though in part that was because Bad Things happened to my favorite character in the novel - I'm prejudiced that way {wry grin}. But the novel and the stories featured scenes that have stayed with me, evocative and unforgettable.]

I'm keeping this, as I know I'll read it again. If you're interested in thoughtful gay erotica - or in vignettes about relationships, with an erotic tone - you might want to hunt up a copy of this.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This is one of the earliest books I ever registered on BookCrossing, and it's been on my keeper-shelves for many, many years now - and I think it's high time it went traveling. I'm adding it to the LGBTQIA bookbox, which will be on its way again on Tuesday. Hope someone enjoys this book!

This was interesting! On a whim, I searched the listings at AbeBooks for the keyword "bookcrossing", and found several listings that included "bookcrossing label" in the descriptions. (I don't mind seeing BC books in bookstores or for sale - that's part of a book's life cycle as far as I'm concerned. And in this case the BC info was preserved, so that's good too.) I decided to order a few of those books so I could re-release them, and this one turned out to be mine, from an online seller based in Cambridge MA! Glad to see it again - and I may save it for the upcoming "LGBT History Month and National Coming Out Day" release challenge in October.
