An oldy but a goody! Purchased from the Gisborne Church garage sale - 15 books for $5. I read this one last year so I purchased this for release.
George and Lennie are two single men who work together as itinerant ranch workers in the Depression(?). The story is mostly about their relationship -their need for each other even though Lennie seems more of a burden because of his simple mind. They share a dream and continue that dream until the sad ending. A great read - only 80 pages but lots to discuss - the relationships between George and Lennie, Candy and his old dog, the treatment of Crooks the black ranchhand and the inevitable conclusion brought about by Curley's flirtatious young wife.
Different cover art on my copy.
Reserved for Secretariat's "You're Such an Animal" September release challenge.

RELEASE NOTES:
I left this leaning against a coffee machine where we stopped for a drink whilst shopping at the local market for dinner - one of the few coffee stops we have seen in Thailand so maybe a westerner will pick up the book whilst having a coffee.
Hello and congratulations! You have found yourself a good book and a whole community of booklovers dedicated to sharing books with each other and the world at large. I hope that you will write a journal entry letting me know that the book has been found, and that you'll stick around a bit and get to know Bookcrossing. Feel free to read and keep this book, or to pass it on to a friend or even set it out "in the wild" for someone else to find like you did. Happy reading from meganh!
