Sorry for not journalling this sooner! It got lost in the shuffle when I moved, and then I thought it had already been logged in.
I've been a big fan of Dorothy Parker for years now and am thoroughly enjoying this collection. Will write more when I've read more :)

Caught from midwinter, who practically hurled it at me (in a friendly way) after I confessed I didn't know who Dorothy Parker was. Now I know. Parker's instantly recognizable virtue is economy of style and almost compulsive readability. Her poetry here is usually clever and light in tone, but behind the wit lurks a penetrating, serious and independent mind, as even a casual reading will make clear. The fiction is similarly "light" and quick, but it shares Parker's urbane insights into human nature and attitudes. All in all a well-balanced collection of work by a strong, entertaining writer. Handing off to midwinter, with many thanks!
