I found this book to be interesting but a bit lacking. I wish the author had included more information on the various topics he only touched on thpugh he did do more with some topics than others.
I did very much enjoy the information about the real esate litsings. I found the author saying things I found myself saying to my kitchen design clients as I was heping them to decide what materials to use. I know I will use the information I read when house hunting myself in the near future!
I also really enjoyed the story of the crack dealers. I didnt realize how well organized gangs are and how little the average drug dealer really makes.
All in all it was a decent read, but it was like a bowl of Pho (Vietnameese noodle soup - YUM!) When you get to the end of the bowl you really just want a *little* more.

Note: this copy is an "uncorrected proof" version of the book.

I was anxious to read this and I was not totally disappointed. First off-if you have the time, it is a very fast read. It took me about a day. I thought the topics were interesting and I'm sure some of the results will be controversial. My favorite parts were about the crack dealers and the name thing. I was surprised a variation of my name made it on the low education list!! I guess because I am older it might not have applied at the time, but it was very interesting.

I will be sending this on to the next person on the list!

I received this in the mail last week, and I'm already at the epilogue! What a cracking read it is!! I love this stuff. Very light, but very entertaining...and how nice it is they've taken a very complicated area as economics and made it very accessible. As I expect to be finished today, I'll start making arrangements to move the book on. Thanks PrettyPoodle!

Arrived safely today. Sounds just like my cup of tea :)

Really enjoyed this book. As a political science student it's good to see books published challenging the "conventional wisdom". Levitt is obviously a man with interesting ideas, however, I wasn't sure if I was "dazzled" as Malcolm Gladwell asks us to be on the cover of the book. Just found it dragged a bit through the middle sections, where the ideas got a bit bizarre... but that's just me whingeing :)

Sending to jenndiggy when I get her address. Thanks PrettyPoodle for sharing the book!!

Received this today (25 Aug) and can't wait to read it! Thanks for including me in the ring!

Facinating book. Sorry it took me over a week to read it, but there's been a lot going on, plus a holiday yesterday.

I really enjoyed this book, and loved the part about the names. I'm curious if the names he projects as the most popular names for 2015 really will be the most common!

Mailing today.

Popped into Apple Valley for a brief stay. I have two other bookrings to read in front of it, but it shouldn't be too long. You can keep track of its progress via my bookshelf.

I was expecting to love this book, and it did not disappoint. I just love reading books written by geniuses on the fringe of their fields. It reminded me quite a bit of "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman". The part I liked best, and I am still chuckling about it, is the additional answer to the survey question, "How does it feel to be black and poor?"

Thanks for sharing. It will be off to i-spy later this week.

Have been waiting to read this one forever & I am glad that I did.

Definitely an interesting POV, wish it was a little more detailed...but I guess if it was, it wouldn't appeal to the masses as much as it has.

Thanks for sharing!
