A calm, reflective read on the train from Bristol Parkway to London! Toibin writes beautifully, relating the life of Eamon Redman, a high court judge in his sixties.
The narrative jumps between his childhood and holidays in the village of Cush, and his time in Cush as an adult as he nears retirement and as he reflects on his life and career.
The tone is gentle and explores his life and loves and deaths of those close to him.

Picked it up at the meetup today at the Stamford Arms.
A very calming book... The main character remains somewhat distant and the ending is quite abrupt but an enjoyable read nevertheless.
