I have read Chomsky before and felt like Keanu Reeve's character in "The Matrix": if THIS is what reality looks like, I'm not sure I want to be awake. I can't argue with Chomsky's facts, but I will say that history can only be understood through the lens of one's own beliefs, experiences, prejudices, and mental schema. I know that the United States has done many horrible things around the world, and I am not making excuses for our governmnet. However...we have also done a lot of good, and until Chomsky recognizes that our foreign policy isn't either/or, but instead is a mixture of good and evil, I have difficulty in buying his story.

But hey, that's just me. White, middle-class, suburban. I AM the evil empire.
