Rantus Dark is not a vampire and anybody that says he is will probably end up being dead a lot sooner than they had expected to be. Its true that he steals the souls of children and holds them prisoner until he has used up the time they were supposed to be spending, but that doesnt make him a vampire, just a rather nasty and evil chap, which he would admit to without a moments hesitation. Everything is going rather well in the world of Rantus Dark until he steals the soul of a rather wilful girl who stamps her feet and decides to take on the vampire and escape back to her body. Did I just say vampire? Oh no, now Im in all sorts of trouble. Youll just have to figure the rest out for yourself, I have to hide now.

Arrived in the mail - I'll start reading this after I've finished with my current book. Nifty cover!

29 April '05 - I'm almost finished with this and I LOVE it!!! I won't say anything about the story or plot or whatever that might spoil it for the readers after me on this ring, but I do want to say something about the style (voice) in which this is written. I always think of this style as "British children's book"; I don't mean that in a bad way, it just reminds me of the books I read as a child (some American ones, too - but those tend to be older). I tried to read the Lemony Snicket books, but was partially put off by them because it seemed to me that there was an attempt at this same style....but it missed by several zillion miles and seemed to me to be really forced. Well, this book has hit it, dead on - it is perfect for this book and feels "real". Just my opinion (well, duh) :-)

Oh, by the way - I didn't read Chapter 4 (should I have?) and my potato is defective.

7 May '05 - mailed to MollyGrue (and my copies arrived yesterday from CafePress - whoohoo!)

Great story Verian; zany and entertaining. You have some very original (if strange ideas. I especially liked the bit about the conference in the appendix, and of course the toilet of doom.

This book is travelling on to cougmax pending an address.
