I've always admired her journalism and here Polly Toynbee goes one step further from reporting the situation to trying to live it. The awful wages and conditions low paid workers have to put up with has a direct impact on the services they provide - hospital cleaning, school-dinners, care workers. No wonder our social services are gong to the dogs!
