This book must have been meant to go through its life as a continual RABCK - how nice and generous BXers are. Merci beaucoup for sending it to me, boucli, mon amie. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity.
Well, I finally got around to reading this one! At long last Mount TBR has some dents in it as I'm making an effort to not bring home any new books to read and instead focus on the ones that are lying about.
I was surprised to find this wasn't an Alex Delaware/Milo Sturgis novel, but instead has as its main character a fellow by the name of Jeremy Carrier, a young psychologist who is being sought after by a group calling themselves "The Central Conspiracy Club," or "CCC." Jeremy is sought by this exclusive group because of the death of his girlfriend, Jocelyn, but first he must prove his worthiness to join by delving into the mystery of who is killing many young females, some of whom are prostitutes whose deaths the police aren't particularly interested in solving as they keep focusing on Jeremy as their suspect.
The story was good and the killer's identity came as a surprise, but the book itself was entirely too long. The first 200 pages are almost pure filler as you can't even tell where the story is going or what the plot is. Kellerman would have done well to shorten it and cut out all the needless descriptions and never-ending dialogue as it detracted from an otherwise good mystery.
