After the first few chapters I was expecting this Richard to turn out like Evil Richard from Coronation Street ;-) It would be too much of a spoiler to reveal more than that, so suffice it to say that I enjoyed the book - Rowntree does seem to have an ability to make an initially unlikely plot seem totally beleivable by the end.

I have really enjoyed the other Kathleen Rowntrees novels I've picked up so when I saw this one tonight on the pile at meet up I just had to grab it.

Is it still at meet up when we don't use meetup.com to arrange? Hum... As I read futurecats entry above I notice no - it is a bookcrossing dinner. I stand corrected.

Another great read from Kathleen Rowntree, she has a amazing ability to bring the reader into the lifes of characters with just a few pages. I look forward to finding more.

Journal Entry 8 by Otakuu from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Thursday, July 21, 2005
Received this book at Breakfast Meetup at Le Trattorie on Sunday.

Although it is not what I normally read I enjoyed it. I am not sure that I would actively pursue any others by this author but if I found another one I would read it.

I read this book ages ago and it has long since passed into the hands of other BXers. I found it easy to read and surprisingly thought provoking.
