How did 9-year old Louis fall off a cliff into a ravine? Was it the inevitable destiny of a troubled, disturbed and accident-prone child? Only Louis knows the truth and he lies in a coma with only the grotesque Gustave for company, seemingly beyond the reach of the neurologist, Dr Dannachet.
Gripping, unusual, thought-provoking and poignant, this is a very well-crafted thriller. It's easy to read, perhaps deceptively simple, since the complex plot actually requires a degree of concentrated effort to get the most out of it.
I'm going to pass on to a friend, in the hope of encouraging them to get involved with the whole bookcrossing thing!
