recv'd from Rrrcaron for a bookring. I can not wait to read it! Thank you Rrrcaron!
Oh the fantasy of Jimmy Buffett, don't we all wish we could go there! I did not enjoy this book as much as "Tales From Margaritaville or "A Pirate Looks At Fifty". It had some really interesting personalities, but I still sometimes found myself bored, trying to figure out if I could make it to the end of the book. I could of done with more Ix-Nay and Cleopatra and less Dawn. All in all though it was a pretty good book. I think I just need to read it next time, laying on my favorite beach not couped up in an office.
Thank you Rrrcaron for sharing, it will be on it's way to alanfoxboro this week.

I received this book today in the mail. Thanks to Rrrcaron for the bookring. I will read and post a review ASAP.
This is my first experience with the fiction (though not the music) of Jimmy Buffett. I enjoyed the lightheartedness of this book, as well as the colorful cast of characters that Tully interacts with. Having grown up in the Carribbean, A Salty Piece of Land makes me want to hop on the next plane (or sailboat) back home.
Thanks again to Rrrcaron for this bookring and to khillz28 for sending it on to me. I will get this book in the mail to BigrTex first thing on Monday.

Received in the mail yesterday. I should be able to start it this weekend. I haven't read any Jimmy Buffet before, so I'm not sure if I'll finish it before I go to the beach the following weekend or not.
to Rrrcaron for organizing and alanfoxboro for sending |
This was my first exposure to Jimmy Buffett's writing as well. He certainly wrote about what he knows (music, the carribean, sailing, and fishing), but the book seemed like just a series of stories that were loosely tied together.
I'm glad that I tried it, but probably won't be reading any more of his work.
I finished the book sitting on the beach in Port Aransas, TX looking out at the Gulf of Mexico last Friday. I'll be sending it home to Rrrcaron this afternoon.
