This book will travel with Bilbo KiwiBerry on his world adventure for people to write in while they have him, in the style of a diary to let me and others know what he has been doing. :o)

On the left is Bilbo himself, small, brown and furry.

Journal Entry 2 by rarsberry from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Tuesday, March 8, 2005
This is a photo of Bilbo with The Da Vinci Code.
I took this photo to try and show you how small he really is.

There will be more photos to follow...........

Journal Entry 5 by rarsberry from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Monday, March 21, 2005
Here is a photo of Bilbo with his harness.
I bought a strap for him, so people can wear him around their neck, for easy travel.
I'm hoping to make him a small yellowish vest he can wear to cover the string.

Journal Entry 6 by rarsberry from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Monday, March 21, 2005
Today is Tuesday 22nd March.
We were going to visit our OBCZ here in Dunedin yesterday but it was closed. Monday was a public holiday, Otago Anniversary day and so the doors were closed.
But I want to show Bilbo our wonderful box so we are trying again today.

I'll add photos as soon as I can. :o)

Journal Entry 7 by rarsberry from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Wednesday, March 23, 2005
I seem to be writing my journal entries of my time with Bilbo online rather than in the journal itself.
Maybe I want to save room for those who will have him after me.

Tomorrow I have the day to do whatever, be a tourist here in Christchurch before our convention starts.
So I plan to take Bilbo with me.
We went to the Christchurch's OBCZ, as you can see by the photo.

The book he is sitting beside is "Firestarter" by Stephen King. KiwiKat had left it there the day before so I took it with me.

I then had a yummy hot chocolate and a raspberry and lemon muffin for lunch.

Journal Entry 8 by rarsberry from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Sunday, March 27, 2005
Skyring has offered to take Bilbo with him when he goes to London soon.
He will be back at the right time for Bilbo to just continue his journey.
I will put the list in order my mid April so he knews where he is going.

Thanks Skyring for taking him with you. He is light and small so won't take up too much space. Try to write more in online journals than in the journal itself, make them notes if you like.

Have fun!!!!! :o)

Journal Entry 9 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Tuesday, March 29, 2005
I loved him the moment I saw him. And his mother. Rarsberry is as sweet a young lady as you could hope to meet.

Bilbo is kind of quiet and shy - like me - and we will visit all sorts of interesting places and people over the next few weeks. Beginning with Canberra, where he is currently taking his ease after flying out of New Zealand.

Here is a photo of him curled up on the lectern after his part in Thuh Great Debate.

Stay tuned for more!

Journal Entry 10 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
Bilbo decided to take a stroll around the town today. He was filled with new zeal and energy.

He found a book

Journal Entry 11 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
The first thing he did was to visit the New Zealand High Commission. He had a little help to get up so high.

Journal Entry 12 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
There were some dairy cows outside, contentedly grazing. Now I know where those tins of condensed milk come from.

Journal Entry 13 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
Bilbo decided he was a cowbo.

(See journal entry 61 for more on Bilbo's secret passion)

Journal Entry 14 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
Bilbo spotted some Maori words in this alien landscape. He took a closer look.

Journal Entry 15 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
The words came with a translation. Something about a kete, or basket. How puzzling!

Journal Entry 16 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
Nearby was a poem. Bilbo abseiled down to study it.

Journal Entry 17 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
Close by it was a big metal tooth donated by Helen Clark.

Journal Entry 18 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
Even more cryptic words and objects were nearby.

Suddenly it all popped into focus.

Journal Entry 20 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
Moving even further back, Bilbo noticed himself in the middle of a broad avenue named Anzac.

Journal Entry 21 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
An unfamiliar landscape under a harsh sun. Where oh where could the comfortable grey skies of his homeland be? And the cool green hills?

Journal Entry 22 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
Looking the other way was just as desolate.

Journal Entry 23 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, March 31, 2005
But at least he was amongst familiar foliage - New Zealand Hebe shrubs!

Bilbo relaxed and smelt the flowers.

Journal Entry 24 by rarsberry from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Thursday, March 31, 2005
I'm writing as a very proud mother.
Bilbo is being taken care of very well by Skyring so far.
He is seeing some interesting sites and I'm sure he is learning a thing or two, very important for a young Kiwi.

I hear that soon he will have some wonderful clothes before he flys (on the plane) overseas again. :o)

Journal Entry 25 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Tuesday, April 5, 2005
I took young Bilbo for a look at the National Library of Australia yesterday. Here he is with his travelling companion.

Journal Entry 26 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Tuesday, April 5, 2005
I met up with Felicia-Fairy (from Mackay in Queensland, but currently a movable feast) and the darling local peggysmum, and we talked of Kiwi travelling Bookcrossers and books and Bookcrossing and lots of stuff. The cafe in the National Library is called...

...wait for it...

"Bookplates"

Hehehheheh

Journal Entry 27 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Tuesday, April 5, 2005
Who says kiwis can't fly?

No, he's not moulting - the chap in the seat in front had very feathery hair.

And those inseat entertainment screens are fantastic - I watched four or five movies on the way over.

Journal Entry 28 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Tuesday, April 5, 2005
Bilbo's arms were very tired after all that flying and carrying luggage (comprising mainly books with a few spare socks thrown in) and he went out for a brief look at some of the nearby attractions.

Journal Entry 29 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Tuesday, April 5, 2005
Bilbo's quite the art buff, you know. He didn't go inside the Tate Modern, but sussed out the opening hours and entry fees (long and free).

Journal Entry 30 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Tuesday, April 5, 2005
And then to bed in this delightful youth hostel. It's the old St Pauls choir school, just a stone's throw from the cathedral.

Journal Entry 31 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Tuesday, April 5, 2005
I didn't actually mean to post another journal entry this evening, but I thought I'd post a pic of Bilbo making his contribution to this very journal entry right here in Starbucks!

Journal Entry 32 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Wednesday, April 6, 2005
Bilbo went for a walk down The Strand today and wound up at Trafalgar Square. He's getting into the spirit of this!

Here he is with the National Gallery in the background. The foreground is covered with tourists.

Journal Entry 33 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Wednesday, April 6, 2005
Nelson's Column, or at least Nelson's Bottom. If I got all of his column in, you wouldn't be able to see Bilbo at all!

Journal Entry 34 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Wednesday, April 6, 2005
Look at the size of those lions!

Journal Entry 35 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, April 7, 2005
Bilbo visited The Tower of London today. One of the oldest buildings in the city - a huge complex of mediaeval fortress and royal residence and tourist attraction.

Journal Entry 36 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Saturday, April 9, 2005
It was a little more colourful around the corner.

Journal Entry 37 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Saturday, April 9, 2005
The New Zealand High Commission was found, on the far side of Trafalgar Square. Haymarket and Pall Mall. Not a great deal of scope for photographs, but we did the best we could in the blustery weather. Bilbo had his toes taped down to stop him flying away!

Journal Entry 38 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Saturday, April 9, 2005
Bilbo meets the London Renegados.

Journal Entry 39 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Saturday, April 9, 2005
They made him a nest. They know what Kiwis like!

He was then told about the secrets and protocols of the London Renegados for the gift of a packet of Tim-Tams.

Journal Entry 41 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Saturday, April 9, 2005
Bilbo exploited a loophole in the membership criteria.

Journal Entry 42 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Saturday, April 9, 2005
And duly made an honorary Renegado, the shiny headgear symbolising senior ranking within the order.

Journal Entry 43 by alliesolskjaer from Ealing, Greater London United Kingdom on Sunday, April 10, 2005
Skyring brought Bilbo and his journal along to the Renegades' meet-up last Friday (8th). It was great to meet Bilbo (and Skyring, of course!) and I'm looking forward to when Bilbo comes to stay with me. I'll have to think of more London-based activities for him!

Journal Entry 44 by minx2012 on Monday, April 11, 2005
AllieS and I are planning things for Bilbo to do when he comes to stay with her. So far we're taking him for a Thai dinner.
I must apologise for being part of the group that introduced Bilbo to the delights of Guinness, but it'll help him grow up big and strong. Honest.

Journal Entry 45 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, April 14, 2005
Bilbo has been walking around London with me. He charmed a young lady in Bow Street, who just couldn't take her eyes off him.

Journal Entry 46 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, April 14, 2005
Bilbo couldn't take his eyes off her, neither!

"The Young Dancer" by Enzo Plazzotta, and that's the Covent Garden Opera House in the background.

Funny, doesn't look like my idea of an Opera House...

Journal Entry 47 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, April 14, 2005
They're changing guard at Buckinghuge Palace. Bilbo KiwiB went down with Skyring.

Journal Entry 48 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, April 14, 2005
Bilbo enjoyed watching the parade of Royal Guardsmen in their bright uniforms.

Journal Entry 49 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, April 14, 2005
Bilbo stood in front of Westminster Abbey, drinking in the history and the atmosphere.

Journal Entry 50 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, April 14, 2005
And just over the road, Little Bilbo saw Big Ben.

Journal Entry 51 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, April 14, 2005
Later, Bilbo perched high over the Thames, the wind ruffling his feathers, with the Houses of Parliament behind him.

Journal Entry 52 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Thursday, April 14, 2005
And behind him, the London Eye kept on turning. Maybe next trip, but there just wasn't the time.

Don't worry, Rarsberry, Bilbo was securely fastened to his perch using his safety harness.

Journal Entry 53 by emmafiles from Murrumba Downs, Queensland Australia on Friday, April 15, 2005
Right - little Bilbo.
Just had a good look through my notebook and realised I did not journal my meeting with Bilbo, as I was supposed to - however, I did journal in Skyring's Washington journal, which I was not supposed to do.

So confused.

How are you Bilbo?

Journal Entry 54 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Friday, April 15, 2005
Dawn in North Texas. Today Bilbo is off on a Bookcrossing road trip to Archer City, home of the world's largest second-hand bookshop, run by Larry McMurtry, author of the world's greatest Western "Lonesome Dove".

Journal Entry 55 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Friday, April 15, 2005
Bilbo had a great time in Archer City, which is home to the massive secondhand bookshop run by Larry McMurtry in absentia, two young ladies and a pair of cats. Unfortunately, none of the pictures involving Bilbo worked out, but this one may give an idea of the scale of the operation.

Journal Entry 56 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Friday, April 15, 2005
After our return, we stopped by the MeetnGreet for the convention. Here we see three flightless birds. And Jfroebe leering over WhiteRaven's shoulder.

Journal Entry 57 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Monday, April 18, 2005
Bilbo was greatly admired and caressed during the convention. He met a few other creatures from around the world, including a Rat Bastard.

Journal Entry 58 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Monday, April 18, 2005
We took a break to go on a walking tour of the Stockyards District. Here we see (standing) LitterBasket, Marinaw, Nelle, CoffeeBeaned, Shendoah, MystreyLady, Tzurriz, JFroebe, GoryDetails, WhiteRaven (and penguin), Mr Nelle. Front row: SisterBeaned, BabyBeaned, TexasWren (holding "Texas"), Bilbo (holding Skyring), FirstNoel, MissEfficiency.

Journal Entry 59 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Monday, April 18, 2005
I've been trying to steer clear of straight Bookcrossing stuff, but this picture just summed up the whole durn thang.

Journal Entry 60 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Monday, April 18, 2005
And, speaking of bulls, look at the horns on this one!

Bilbo was happy to ride another cow - see journal entry 14.

"What is that?" the cowhand asked "Some kind of b'ar?'

"A kiwi." I replied "From New Zealand."

"Thought it'd be greener than that."

"I work for tips," he reminded me after I took the picture.

What a lovely man!

"Be nice to your Mum." I replied. "Oh, and it doesn't cost anything to smile, mate."

Journal Entry 61 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Monday, April 18, 2005
The convention ended, I said goodbye to all my friends, old and new, climbed aboard a jet and flew over some serious badass country to San Francisco.

Journal Entry 62 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Monday, April 18, 2005
Bilbo perched on the harbour wall to drink in the sights.

Journal Entry 63 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Monday, April 18, 2005
It really was a spectacular spot!

Journal Entry 64 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Monday, April 18, 2005
Bilbo hung on tight. Kiwis don't like swimming with sealions.

Journal Entry 65 by wingwhiteraven13wing from Quartzsite, Arizona USA on Tuesday, April 19, 2005
Hi rarsberry!

It's funny, Pete mentioned that I was a famous Book Crosser, and I had the same kinda thought about him :: grin :: I admire what you all do for the site and the effort you put in, it's beyond cool and makes for some truly excellent reading.

Fond memories of seeing the little kiwi get passed from person to person on the last day...making his bid for freedom.

Picture is of Skyring sitting next to me on the last day, using my laptop to post a comment on a Live journal entry I had just made using the restaurant's wireless!!!

Journal Entry 66 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
A restaurant? Is that what it was? It was an experience. But being able to spread jalopeno cheese sauce over my bowl of chips, well, that was an opportunity we don't get back home. Don't get a real lot of fried catfish sangers, come to think of it. Yummm!

OK, this might not mean much to anyone a million miles away from Dunedin, but this ship was spotted at the historical wharf.

Journal Entry 67 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
An old sailing ship named the Balclutha! Wow, big river.

Journal Entry 68 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
And here's a stern glance.

Journal Entry 69 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
In the evening, there was a misunderstanding about cable cars and bucking mountains were climbed on the way into the SF Bookcrossers Meetup in the Cafe Royale. Organiser Suetu talked about books in terms of plot and characterisation, rather than where they had been caught and released.

Journal Entry 70 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
The next day, we schlepped off to the Palace of Fine Arts near the Presidio on the assumption that it was a, well, palace of fine arts.

Turns out that it isn't, merely the remains of a structure erected in 1915 for the Pan-Panamanian Exposition. The original thing was eight times the size of what's left. It must have been awesome.

Bilbo posed by the lagoon.

Journal Entry 71 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
Bilbo pretended he was a kiwi whale, but he was just being silly.

Journal Entry 72 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
Bilbo met a swan. A white swan. Two odd birds together.

Journal Entry 73 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
Bilbo took a ride on the Tortoise Express!

Journal Entry 74 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
And that was the end of Bilbo's travels!

Journal Entry 75 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, April 24, 2005
Well, not quite. This is the end of the photographic record of his travels with me. We flew out that afternoon to Los Angeles, then took that big bird over the Pacific, a hop into Canberra, where I stopped and Bilbo kept on going, all the way to Brisbane.

So long, little bird! It's been wonderful travelling with you. We've had some times and seen some sights, and you did things that I didn't - like riding a longhorn and a tortoise, and resting your head on Dagon's bosom.

It's been a fantastic trip, and thank you Rarsberry for letting Bilbo ride with me! I look forward to catching up with both of you in the future.

Over to you, cackleberry!

Journal Entry 76 by londonmet from -- Somewhere in London 🤷‍♀️ , Greater London United Kingdom on Tuesday, April 26, 2005
Somewhat belated journal entry from me - I met up with the little dude in a London pub a while back, and shared a pint of Guinness with him - for a little feller, he can put a fair bit away!

Journal Entry 77 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Tuesday, April 26, 2005
He was set an example by Minx and yourself. And if it makes him as jolly as the rest of the Renegados, then why not?

He is a Kiwi of broad tastes. A few minutes in pre-dawn Singapore and he was into the sweeties.

Journal Entry 78 by octopusgrrl from Dunedin, Otago New Zealand on Tuesday, May 10, 2005
Wow, what a well-travelled wee kiwi young Bilbo's become! I remember a night back in March, sitting in a Dunedin cafe with an unworldly lad ready to embark on his adventures - ah, youth! :)

Journal Entry 79 by wingSkyringwing from Reid, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Wednesday, June 1, 2005
Sir Henry made a trip to Brisbane, and was so excited by the idea of Federation that he stopped at the first town of any size back on his "home soil" of New South Wales and made his famous speech. Parkes, Barton, Deakin and all the rest are the great heroes of Federation, and I am so glad that you took the time to take Bilbo to see the place. Perhaps he felt a few echoes of history, such as when I sat in the church where Patrick Henry made his "Give me Liberty or give me Death!" speech. And released a book there.

Journal Entry 80 by whitequeen from Ipswich, Queensland Australia on Saturday, June 11, 2005
"Let go! Let go of my nose! Muuuuuuuum, there's definately a Kitten, her name is Poppy and I think she eats flightless birds!!!!"

Shhh, now Bilbo, you know she's only playing, she didn't mean to chew your nose!(...and yes there's a picture)

Well Bilbo has arrived safe and sound....and he's a tired little Kiwi. His adventures with the Berry read like War and Peace! He has time to rest now before his big adventures at the Australian Bookcrossing Convention. Then there will be a little trip to the beach for a holiday too.

He's very comfortable at the whitequeens house. "Give me a home among the gum trees....." Shady verandahs and a dolls bed to sleep in courtesy of Lauren (10)That Barbie really has too much anyway!! Lauren caught him trying to pinch Barbie's Ferrari too!! I think he's a tricky little fellow!

Welcome little Kiwi!

Journal Entry 81 by whitequeen from Ipswich, Queensland Australia on Tuesday, June 14, 2005
Oh, it was a grand day yesterday!
Well I'd heard there were a lot of Scottish settlers in the history of New Zealand but I had no idea that Bilbo was descended from some of them!!

On laundry day, with poor little Bilbo wrapped in a towel because he travels light, we made the discovery that he comes from the Clan McDonalds!
Well he came to the right house! Lauren could supply many of his distant relatives sooooo.....there was a gathering of the clan! (yes, there's a picture, but I'm more technically challenged than cackles, and I'll get to pictures eventually!)

There was many a McHappy meal partaken, and a little dancing under the golden arches, as they partied into the wee hours.
What a McHoot!!

Journal Entry 82 by whitequeen from Ipswich, Queensland Australia on Thursday, June 23, 2005
Hi Bilbo here!
Yes, it's all systems go in Brisbane. That whitequeen sure is busy, I couldn't get on the computer! (she's such a computer hog)
We're heading off for the final organising tomorrow afternoon and then we just wait for everyone to turn up. Let the party begin.
....and hey I'm not bragging but I've got my own Convention T-Shirt. Quite snazzy.
Good grief she's back, I have to go. She says she wants to journal now, goodness things weren't like this at the Berry household. Waited on hand and foot I was!

Journal Entry 83 by futurecat from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Friday, June 24, 2005
I spotted Bilbo living it up at the registration evening for the ABC convention. Looks like he's enjoying his travels!

Wow, I had a great time at the Convention registration Night! I met people from all over Australia. Futurecat came over to check I was OK.
I made a new friend too, his name is Mike and he's unreal!
Lots of people wrote in my journal-
Servalan Pixette
thebiblioholic lytteltonwitch
Futurecat Neesy
Elisabethlily Fleebo
toxic Flinx73
CoffeeBron K-J-H

...and I get to have more fun tomorrow! Flash Mob, Hooray!!
It's after midnight here and the whitequeen has to go to bed. She says it's lights out!

Journal Entry 85 by whitequeen from Ipswich, Queensland Australia on Saturday, June 25, 2005
I've been kidnapped! I think that neesy has a crush on me, and who could blame her!
We met everyone in King George Square this morning and released books all down the Queen St Mall. Rarsberry, it was a scream, they were literally fighting over the benches. It is a beautiful day so we walked over Victoria Bridge which has a great view of the river, South Bank Parklands and the city.
At the Parklands we all met at the flag court where neesy led us on a Bookcrossing style conga line through the arbour to the heart of the park. When neesy stopped, so did we and put our books on the ground and melted into the crowd.
Well then whole gang headed over to the alfresco foodcourt which was a great position to get some refreshments, sit, and watch everyone pick up our books!
The Bougainvillea was blooming bright purple all over the arbor, there were masses of people and there will be a million photos, and catches we hope, to come!
The whitequeen has gone home to recuperate(and log on)...but neesy and I are partying on!!!
Roll on Trivia!

Journal Entry 86 by newk from Adelaide, South Australia Australia on Saturday, June 25, 2005
Rumour/scandal:ssshhhh. But Bilbo and Mike disappeared on Friday night. I think they shacked up together at neesy's place.
Mike was very very naughty because he told me he was going home with meganh.

There is, in fact, a photograph of Bilbo, Mike and a tallie of Cooper's beer. I shall check the rating on that pic and see if it is suitable for a general audience!

I met Bilbo at Registration when the famous Skyring gave him to me and I wrote in his very lovely journal. Happy trails Bilbo!

Journal Entry 90 by whitequeen from Ipswich, Queensland Australia on Sunday, June 26, 2005
Well! I just caught Bilbo knotting sheets together!
Apparently he was planning an early morning escape to the Post Office of all places.
Bless his little heart, he wanted to post his Convention Bag home to rarsberry!

Does he think I'm some sort of tyrant! Of course I'll run him down there!
Hmmmm, I've just looked at the bag....and all the chocolates and chips seem to be missing. I wonder who ate those? (....and Bilbo, pointing at Lauren and the Cat will NOT get you out of trouble)
So watch your mail rarsberry!

I saw Bilbo at the convention! he was the one making all the noise with that Mike guy! What a well travelled little fellow and not even looking worn at all!

I caught up with Bilbo again at the superb Australian BookCrossing convention in Brisbane. He was the star of the show, no doubt about it, and he was patted and stroked and hugged and kissed by everyone.

Here he is with his mate Mike from Utah, being signed in - each was given an official convention attendance badge. That's WhiteQueen on the left and Neesy on the right.

Rarsberry - your little Kiwi is having a wonderful time. He is loved by all!

And it was so good to meet him again. I noticed that he'd been given a vest to go with his jacket.

I first met Bilbo in Christchurch earlier this year when he was about to start out on his big OE.He is now a well-travelled little guy.
Didn't get a chance to say more than a brief hello as there was this American guy Mike hogging the limelight

Wow, so many people took photos of Bilbo at the Convention! ( and yes I'm going to borrow a few.)
....and this week at the Sunshine Coast!
Imagine this! Bilbo, the beach, the waves and a surfboard. This little guy has so much energy. Hmmmm, I think he might need a surfie shirt now.

I miss the little fellow.
I know that he has a gret time at the Brisbane Convention, he knew a few people and will have met lots of great aussies.

I know he will be having a gret beach holiday with whitequeen, hopefully getting lots of exercise and maybe behaving himself.
Can't wait to hear about it and see photos.

I was reading back in cackleberry's entries, when Bilbo first arrived with cackles he mentioned "his BookCrossing Passport". I didn't even think to send him with a small passport book.
That would be a great idea, he ould have a small book, and people could dra a stamp or something or where he has been.
If anyone wants to do this gor him, that would be great.

I also notice that since he left he has started a small wardrobe, while with Skyring he got a little yellow vest, and I have recently noticed some body had given him something blue to wear (who and can I please see a better photo of it??). Feel free to mae him any clothes he might need if you want to.

I am taking the goodies that cackles posted me and putting them in a scrapbook I found the other day. I will also add some of the things that cam ein my goody bag from the Brisbane convention.

Well that's all for now from me, his mama.
I miss him lots but know he is in good hands and having fun. :o)

Well it will soon be time for Bilbo to return to his travelling. He's off next to catsalive for a visit and then...all around the world.
His holiday at the beach gave him a good rest, and then last Monday night he visited the local Girl Guide group and told them about his travels. The girls made a big fuss of him, which I must say I think he likes!! He scoffed down some Guide biscuits and put his "I'm a smart cookie" sticker in his little travel journal.
In fact that's what we've been doing this afternoon. Updating his journal with information about his visit with us here in Ipswich.
On Sunday 17 July we have our Brisbane Meet-up and Bilbo will come with me to say his farewells to all the lovely friends he's made here!!

...and as he goes he'll be singing a little song made famous by his namesake, dear Bilbo Baggins-

"Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar."

Bilbo has a long journey yet, till it's time to travel home to rarsberry, but with every step he's a little closer to home!

This tired traveller flew in to Rooty Hill today. It will be an early night tonight & a trip into the city tomorrow. Maybe we'll have time for a bit of a look around at lunchtime.

Fully rested, Bilbo has joined me at work today. Here he is at my desk with a few of my colleagues. He isn't much help with the work as he finds it deadly dull, and who could blame him. I find it dull.

It's a lovely day so we might have time to see a few sights & release a couple of books at lunchtime. Stay tuned to this station.
