Book One of The Keltiad
Neither her training as a warrior or as a sorceress-druid prepares young Aeron Aoibhell for her tragic rise to the throne of Keltia or the price she must pay for her first actions as high queen of a spacefaring, magic-using kingdom. Steeped in Celtic myth, The Silver Branch depicts the coming to maturity of a woman destined to bring her people into a larger world.
She was Aeron, heir to the throne of Keltia at a time when the Keltic worlds had not yet re-established contact with their brethren of Earth - at a time when dangerous enemies were poised to destroy this mighty empire hidden behind its seemingly impenetrable, magic-fuelled Curtain Wall.
Her path was charted long before her birth - by events which shaped the worlds and burdens she would inherit.
She discovered the force which could move the sun from its course. She became sorcerer, warrior, avenger, then Queen. She was the mistress of high magic, last defender of the Kelts. And it was her formidable powers that would determine the destiny of friend and foe alike when war finally exploded across the worlds...

I really enjoyed the whole series - it's a sci-fi/fantasy combining Celtic myth & magic with space, technology & distant galaxies. This book is about Aeron's family & what came before her birth, her training & the early years of her reign.
