Product Description:
No woman in her right mind would consent to wearing a corset for a month. Especially a "skinny-challenged" woman like Tessa. But dreams of being debt-free dance in her head at the offer of appearing in a reality TV show. "A Month in the Life of a Victorian Duke" is about real people pretending to live on an English estate, circa 1879. And Tessa's leading man-a real-life Duke-is so handsome she can barely breathe, with or without the corset...

Katie has done it again! I loved this book. It's a madcap ride filled with humor, romance and a sexy English Duke. There is a little bit of Tessa in all of us. I highly recommend it to all those with a sense of humor. This is definitely a shelf keeper.

Guess what dumby foxy I have received the package and I am already reading this book.
I love it so far. When I looked on amazon and saw what the story was about I knew that would suit me fine. + a reality show, + a diary concept great formula!!

I also loved that both books were paperbacks because it is nice to receive hardbacks but it cost me so much to let those travel again, so yes I am happy. thank you and especially happy that you sent it by air because I was struggling to find a good book to read(again) and now the fight is over :-)

Update March 14

It takes me forever but that has nothing to do with the book but more with the fact that i bought Final Fantasy for the play station so I only read in bed.

I am still enjoying the read . I can imagine though that you could get bored after a while, but because it is so funny and you never know what you can expect next I really love it.

update some hours later

well finished it. In the end I read the first pages of her new book but I do not think I want to read that because reading it I noticed she uses the same words in dialogue like:
He turned his narrowed gaze to me" O well what the heck maybe I will read more of her books. They make me laugh and that's important :-)

Promised this one to cheesy so it will go back to the USA and I am giving it a 9 not because of the intelligence but because of making me laugh so much

This book came yesterday as a total surprise, and reading the journal log, I'm not entirely sure I was the intended receipient. But it looks like a lot of fun to read, so if this book belongs someplace else, PM me and I'll send it off, but I'd like to quickly read it first.

Journal Entry 6 by Agrace from Frisco, Texas USA on Thursday, April 21, 2005
The book is now back on it's intended path.

Isn't that just like a BC book, to wander off finding someone to read it?

What a fun book! I was laughing out loud and reading some of the more "interesting" scenes to DH! This is my first Katie MacAlister book...and I will definitely read more. This book is a very quick read...and I had to force myself to put it down at 2:30am instead of finishing it since it was a work day!

Journal Entry 15 by WestofMars from Mars, Pennsylvania USA on Wednesday, May 11, 2005
Fun, witty book that taught me a thing or two. *grin*

I think the book is at its best when Tessa isn't being sexy but is being witty. She's got a sauciness to her that's real -- Foxy's right that we all have a little bit of Tessa in her -- and is so much fun to read.

And the madcap situations are a total hoot, too. Herring????

Yet underneath it all, these people are real. They have issues, they are struggling with things. Maybe the solutions are too pat, but at least they're present, and that's important.

I'll try to remember to add some Katie MacAlister to my wish list (although Marlene's right that the characters' actions aren't varied enough), but if I forget, well, you guys can help me remember.

Off to Canada and Antheras in the morn.

Journal Entry 16 by Antheras from Kitchener, Ontario Canada on Saturday, May 21, 2005
It's here! I'm really looking forward to this and, if I can keep my hands off it until then, is part of my two day reading marathon beginning tomorrow.

I don't know if anyone else on this list watched "Regency House Party" on PBS this winter but the whole time I was reading this book I kept flashing back to that show. It's the same premise but set during the regency period and the young ladies where there with their chaperones trying to snare a husband. "The Corset Diaries" was like the behind the scenes look at that show and I loved it! Who knew so much debauchery could take place...

I really enjoyed the developing relationship between Tess and Alice for that touch of reality it lent to the book. Mrs. Peters was my favourite for the complete chaos she caused and the humour factor. And young Melody just broke my heart.

Truly the perfect addition to my weekend of reading.

Journal Entry 20 by meshe from Bonaire, Georgia USA on Tuesday, July 5, 2005
I finished this one this morning and did enjoy it. It was just what I needed to read, a light, silly, enertaining book. I really loved the interaction between Tessa and the 'servants' downstairs. Her irreverance was just what was needed on especially when dealing with her lady's maid. As for the poltergeist, all I can say is ?fish?

I have it packaged and ready to ship off to Helly tomorrow. Hopefully I'll make it to the post office in time.

Journal Entry 24 by sarradee from Mansfield, Texas USA on Friday, September 30, 2005
Arrived in the mail today, can't wait to get to reading, but have to finish the other ring I have at the house first. Don't worry, it won't take too long, the other one is a Christopher Moore. I'll probably stay up all night unable to put it down. :)

Journal Entry 25 by sarradee from Mansfield, Texas USA on Thursday, October 6, 2005
This was a fun and very silly read. I thought the author mentioned Tessa's weight issue just a little too often. Size 18, big ass, fat thighs, ok got it, you don't have to keep reminding me the main character is plus size.

Someone commented that they liked Tessa better when she wasn't being sexy, but rather witty. I have to agree with that assessment, some of the sex scenes seemed rather contrived, yet another way to showcase Tessa's weight. I preferred when she was mouthing off to her ladies maid.

Sweetpea0678 has a copy already, so it looks like this ray ends with me.

Sent on to Lauraloo29 via the relays.

Journal Entry 27 by winglauraloo29wing from Edmonton, Alberta Canada on Thursday, December 8, 2005
This was a fun book to read. A break from my usual genre. I found myself laughing out loud at many parts. I did find Tessa's behaviour in the beginning to be bothersome. A bit manic and and desperate. I'm glad it all worked out in the end.
