a wonderful, bitter-sweet book that makes you laugh and cry.

Send to Icila as part of international bookring

I just got it yesterday after my holidays in Czech Republic and in Hungary.
I'll read it soon.
Thanks.
Brigitte.

P.S. Can you add the list in a J.E. I think that's safer.

Thanks milly1401. I really enjoyed this book. I'm in my fifties and I know that life can always bring anything more. I travelled to Hong-Kong many years ago and I was pleased to read about the star-ferries and the way it was before 1997.
Now I w'll manage to read "Man and boy" .

As soon as I get Hunnyb's address I send the book.

Thanks for sharing the book milly1401 and for sending it to me Icila! Didn't know it talked about Tai Chi and the Chinese culture so that's a pleasant surprise - they're both subjects close to my heart! Looking forward to getting into it after I finish my current bookring book - I'll try not to take too long :)

Have only just started reading it but love it already - used to live in Hong Kong and have been back a couple of times so find myself saying "wow, I know where he's talking about!" Anyhow I'm putting in the participant list before I (inevitably) lose the slip of paper with it on it:

Icila
hunnyb
sewmeneebks
rehouse
tabyorky
and finally home to milly1401!

Really enjoyed this book. Sure I spose it was a bit predictable and rather too "neat" in the end (you know, how everything ties up)... but good laughs all round. British humour is wonderful. And the descriptions of Hong Kong are so atmospheric - really vivid. Will send onto sewmeneebks as soon as I get her address.

Thanks so much for including me in this bookring. This book reads quickly, and I love the author's writing style. I enjoyed everything about this book, especially the alternate settings of London and Hong Kong. I LOVED the Changs!! They seem like people you would love to know.
I will be holding this book as requested by the next reader until her return. Will send as soon as I hear from her.

Finished reading and it's an easy and quick, enjoyable read - a sad/funny very human story, easy to relate to like "Man and Boy" was. Passing it on to my daughter as rabck who then will prob. rabck C.R or WR it after reading.
