I thought this was a great book. Written in 1976 it mentions such future things as space shuttles, hubble space telescope, and smaller computers the size of closets.
Other notable mentions are Geometrodynamics, now called Quantum Electrodynamics, I think. Machines like this one were not built yet:

It is well written and not technical.

Ahhh ... old science stuff. Nothing quite as quaint as old science stuff. Anyway, i've been deeply disappointed by the 21st century so far. No aliens. No flying cars. No laser guns. No artificial intelligent robots.

Still you can always read old science stuff. Makes the future sound oh so exciting ... but remember that the present is always the future and the past at the same time ... so you can basically never win.

Wonder what the WOW signal really was??? Probably an advert for time sharing apartments on the second planet circling Ursulaleguin. Ahh well ... never mind ... the future will be here before you know it.
